PRESS RELEASE
ARTSWEEK: Imagine Peterborough
For immediate release: Tuesday, September 6, 2005

CITY HALL SITE OF SPECTACULAR ARTSWEEK LAUNCH IMAGINE PETERBOROUGH MONDAY SEPTEMBER 12, 2005 AT 5:30 PM

The wrapping comes off ARTSWEEK as the arts community delivers a birthday present like no other to the City - IMAGINE PETERBOROUGH, a spectacular public performance extravaganza on Monday, September 12 at 5:30 pm at City Hall.

IMAGINE PETERBOROUGH will launch ARTSWEEK with a bang aslocal artists transform City Hall, inside and out, into a cultural fantasyland.

Directed by Susan Spicer, IMAGINE PETERBOROUGH magically weaves a tapestry of the City's finest dancers, media artists, singers, poets, musicians, painters, drawers, composers, sculptors, actors, fire-eaters, trumpeters, directors, conductors, writers, filmmakers, and stilt-walkers on the lawns and in the corridors of City Hall.

IMAGINE PETERBOROUGH is brought to you by the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra, the Kawartha Youth Orchestra, the Peterborough Children's Choir, the Peterborough Singers, the Art Gallery of Peterborough, the Peterborough Arts Umbrella, Artspace, the Peterborough Theatre Guild, the Sound and Vision Collective, Arbor Theatre, Mysterious Entity Theatre, the Cure Collective, Public Energy, Old Men Dancing, the Peterborough Dance Collective, Studio 505, Cossar's Art Centre, Lyric Stage, and dozens of individual artists.

Following IMAGINE PETERBOROUGH, in the Council Chambers, Mayor Sylvia Sutherland will proclaim the official dates of ARTSWEEK and a ceremonial presentation will be made to City Council.

The City's arts organizations are going all out to say "Happy Birthday Peterborough!" Join the fun, come watch a bit of magic and see the arts in action!
